In light of this article, it is already obvious to Cybersecurity experts that ACORN (Australian Cybercrime Online Reporting Network) is a complete failure – is this the sign?
This is just a sample. So many people have complained to ACORN but surprisingly nobody has ever told me they got a response.
When a Police Officer hears the word, “Facebook”, “Twitter”, “Instagram”, “Internet”, “Mobile”, or even “Computer” in a harassment or stalking case in my extensive experience, despite it being reportable as a crime under the Crimes Act 1958 (Vic) and other relevant Acts in each state.
It is not the Police member at the front counters’ fault – they are trained to say, “Sorry, go to ACORN”. The governance however is inexcusable, because not only does the victim have a right to make a statement for an alleged crime of stalking or harassment, they have and always did have a right to report an alleged computer crimes under the the Act and that has not changed for decades.
